Oliver Peake

Calm under pressure and remarkably mature beyond his years, Oliver Peake has rapidly emerged as one of Australia’s most exciting young batting prospects, earning attention for his elegant strokeplay, composure and ability to deliver in big moments.

Born in Geelong, Victoria, Peake comes from a strong cricketing background, with his father Clinton Peake having also represented Victoria and captained Australia at Under-19 level. A left-handed batter with a compact technique and natural game awareness, Oliver rose through Victoria’s pathway system and made headlines during the 2024 ICC Under-19 World Cup in South Africa. Initially named as a travelling reserve, he forced his way into the playing XI after an injury in the squad and made an immediate impact, scoring a crucial 49 against Pakistan in the semi-final before producing an unbeaten 46 in the final against India to help Australia lift the title.

His rise in domestic cricket was equally impressive. Peake made his Sheffield Shield debut for Victoria during the 2024/25 season and top-scored with 52 on debut against Western Australia at the WACA, showcasing his temperament in difficult conditions. He quickly established himself as one of Victoria’s brightest young batters and was rewarded with a rookie state contract ahead of the 2025/26 season. By the age of 19, he had already crossed 500 First-class runs while also impressing in List A cricket with multiple half-centuries. His consistent performances also earned him Australia A selection in 2025, where he announced himself with an unbeaten 55 from just 38 balls against Sri Lanka A.

In franchise cricket, Peake broke through with Melbourne Renegades in the Big Bash League and quickly gained recognition for his fearless approach in pressure situations. One of his defining moments came during the 2025/26 BBL season when he smashed a last-ball six against Perth Scorchers to seal a dramatic chase, a knock that further elevated his reputation as a future Australian star. He finished the season with his maiden BBL half-century and continued to strengthen his white-ball credentials with mature middle-order performances.

Peake also captained Australia at the 2026 ICC Under-19 World Cup, becoming the only returning member from the victorious 2024 squad. He led from the front throughout the tournament, including a brilliant century against West Indies in the Super Six stage and a fighting hundred against England in the semi-final. Widely regarded as one of the finest young batting talents in Australian cricket, his rapid progression through domestic, franchise and pathway cricket was further rewarded with a maiden call-up to Australia’s ODI squad for the 2026 tour of Pakistan.
