OUT! CAUGHT AND BOWLED! That's a really soft dismissal. End of a superb knock from Ben Duckett. It is the off-cutter by Prince, across off. Duckett stays back in the crease with an open stance. He tries to drag it away on the leg side but does not pick up the change of pace. Gets his hands high but ends up chipping it tamely back to Prince, who makes no mistake. Duckett walks off to a standing ovation.

The conditions upfront were bound to be a bit challenging, and not only have the English openers seen that phase off but also scored at a healthy rate. India have only themselves to blame for having sprayed the new ball around. They are left playing catch-up, and going with just 5 proper bowling options does not help either. The skipper of India - Shubman Gill shares that they were anyway looking to bowl first. Informs that Jasprit Bumrah misses out due to a knee injury. Washington Sundar is also out with an injury, and Shivam Dube also sits out. KL Rahul, Arshdeep Singh and Prince Yadav are the ones coming into the side. On Arshdeep's inclusion and whether it was influenced by the success of left-arm pacers at this ground, Gill says that they are not a team that relies too heavily on data. With little assistance on offer for the spinners through the middle overs, they felt going in with four pacers was the right way to approach the game. Feels that they were in a great position in Cardiff until about the 25th over, but then lost wickets in clusters. Believes that it has not been easy to score runs in the last couple of matches, and if they can strike early, they will be in a good position.

The captain of England - Harry Brook feels that the surface looks good, so hopefully they can get the runs on the board and restrict the opposition. Informs that Josh Tongue is back in for Saqib Mahmood. Further adds that the bowlers had a lovely spell in the last game, where they gave away very few runs and also lauds the way Joe Root played. Ends by saying that hopefully they can get the job done.

TOSS - Harry Brook and Shubman Gill exchange pleasantries in the middle. Sir Richie Richardson will oversee the proceedings. 'Tails' is the call from Gill, but it has come down as a Head. England opt to BAT first.

No Jasprit Bumrah today? That is the buzz from around the ground at the moment. It would be a major blow for India if their premier pacer were to miss this game. Deep Dasgupta reckons Bumrah could be carrying a niggle, which might explain his absence if he doesn't feature today. If he does sit out, the onus will be on the rest of the attack to step up and fill the void.

A chance for a double - England are chasing history of their own. They are looking to secure their first bilateral ODI series win over India since 2018. After breaking new ground with a T20I series triumph earlier this summer, they now have the opportunity to send India home empty-handed from their tour of the UK. Lord's is bathing in sunshine as the players go through their warm-up drills. The Lord's challenge - India have been winless on their last four trips to Lord's in this format, with their last win here coming back in 2004. No Indian has ever taken a five-wicket haul or scored a hundred in men's ODIs at this storied venue, and there is no better time to change that with the series on the line. It will also be a landmark occasion for the senior duo of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, who are set to play their 400th match together for India.

Masters at work - The two batting giants have been at the peak of their powers heading into the finale, and don't be surprised if either, or even both, stamp their authority on the contest. Joe Root has reeled off five successive fifty-plus scores in the format and has remained unbeaten in each of his last three ODI innings. Liam Dawson further strengthens England's batting depth and has proved highly effective with his left-arm spin through the middle overs. England's quicks hit top gear - England's bowling attack has looked increasingly threatening as the tour has progressed. Jofra Archer has been simply outstanding, carrying the momentum from a superb T20I series into the ODIs.
