Commentary
We are back for the chase! The players are already out in the middle now. Henry Nicholls and Will Young are the two openers for New Zealand. West Indies are going with spin, as Khary Pierre will start proceedings with the ball. Here we go...
... LET'S CHASE ...
The Lennox storm - What followed was absolute carnage as Jayden Lennox turned the match into his personal playground. The left-arm spinner tore the lower order to shreds with a magnificent four-wicket haul, triggering a horrific collapse that saw the hosts lose their final five wickets for a mere 19 runs. With the injured Campbell unable to return to the crease, the West Indies were bundled out for a disappointing 140, leaving New Zealand's spinners grinning and the Kiwis firmly in the driver's seat. Stay tuned for the chase!
A quick chat - Jacob Duffy says that on these pitches, the fast bowlers need to keep things tight early on to set up the spinners for success later. He adds that he is highly pleased with the team's bowling performance, particularly praising Jayden Lennox's brilliant spell. He ends by saying that the run chase will not be easy and that New Zealand must be sharp to win this game.
Carty fought hard - Needing a serious rescue act, Keacy Carty stepped up to anchor the innings and fought hard to keep the Windies afloat. Alongside an aggressive Shimron Hetmyer, Carty helped construct a crucial 49-run partnership to counter a relentless New Zealand spin attack that was drying up the runs. But just as Carty loomed close to a well-deserved half-century, Michael Bracewell broke West Indian hearts by trapping him for 48, opening the floodgates.
West Indies end with a mere 140/9 - So, with the injured Campbell unable to return to the crease, the hosts' innings comes to an official end. The West Indies actually started their innings with plenty of intent, as John Campbell and Ackeem Auguste looked confident against the new ball. However, disaster struck in the sixth over when Campbell pulled his hamstring during a quick single and had to retire hurt, instantly breaking the hosts' rhythm. To make matters worse, Mitchell Santner pulled off a spectacular, flying one-handed catch to dismiss Auguste shortly after, completely shifting the early momentum into New Zealand’s hands.
OUT! TIMBER! Mitchell Santner strikes and gets his second wicket. This one lands just outside off and turns in, Khary Pierre leans on and looks to block it. Gets beaten completely as the ball rattles over the off pole. With John Campbell having retired hurt earlier, West Indies have to end their innings at 140/9!
Michael Bracewell ends his spell with figures of (10-0-33-2). Mitchell Santner continues...

Commentary
Focus shifts to Barbados - That brings us to the end of a rather one-sided affair. New Zealand move into a 2-1 lead in the five-match series and will have the chance to wrap it up in the next one, while West Indies will be aiming to bounce back and force a series decider. The action now shifts to Kensington Oval in Barbados for the fourth ODI on Sunday, 19th July. The first ball is scheduled for 2 pm GMT, but be sure to join us a little earlier for all the build-up. Until then, it's goodbye and take care!
The victorious skipper of New Zealand - Mitchell Santner acknowledges that winning the toss was an advantage on a surface like this, where there was enough assistance for the bowlers. According to him, the key was to keep things simple, with the Powerplay being the easiest phase to bat before conditions became increasingly challenging. Although West Indies stitched together a couple of useful partnerships, he says New Zealand remained patient, knowing that a few wickets would quickly shift the momentum. Speaking about Jayden Lennox, he says the spinner has been doing this for a long time on pitches back home that offer very little turn. He praises Lennox's accuracy and believes his simple approach of attacking the stumps has been the biggest reason behind his success over the last two matches. On his own bowling, he says he gradually worked out which deliveries were most effective and found that bowling at a slightly slower pace generated more turn. He also highlights the variety within New Zealand's spin attack, saying all four spinners bring something different, making them a difficult unit for opposition batters to face.
The captain for West Indies - Shai Hope admits batting first in Guyana is always a challenge and concedes that his side simply did not find enough runs despite New Zealand bowling well. He says there is plenty for the team to discuss, with the inconsistent bounce making batting difficult, but stresses they still need to find ways to adapt and put competitive totals on the board. He also feels a bit of luck is required on such surfaces, something he believes was missing as several close calls went against them. Looking ahead, he points out that the series now moves to Barbados, where the conditions will be different and the team will have to assess what is in front of them before making any plans. Despite trailing 2-1, he believes there is still plenty to play for and insists the focus is on bouncing back in the next game to keep the series alive. Speaking about Vitel Lawes, he says the young spinner has settled in brilliantly after his debut. He praises his consistency, adding that once the first-game nerves disappeared, Lawes has looked increasingly comfortable and continues to bowl exceptionally well.
PLAYER OF THE MATCH - Jayden Lennox wins the award for his amazing spell of 4/52. He says winning back-to-back Player of the Match awards is pleasing, but insists personal accolades are never his focus. According to him, his approach is simple, keep the stumps in play, maintain the right wrist position, and trust the conditions to do the rest if the ball is consistently landed in good areas. He also credits Mitchell Santner as a major influence, adding that the captain has been a huge source of inspiration and someone he continues to lean on.
Presentation Time...
Fight wasn't enough for the Windies - West Indies showed plenty of fight but simply did not have enough runs on the board to truly test New Zealand. They desperately needed early breakthroughs, but the opening stand denied them that opportunity. A spirited spell from Vitel Lawes briefly reignited hopes with three quick wickets, while Khary Pierre added another by dismissing Daryl Mitchell. However, the hosts couldn't sustain the pressure, and New Zealand comfortably crossed the finish line to leave West Indies on the wrong side of the result.
Spin trio powers New Zealand - Earlier in the game, West Indies posted a below-par total for the second successive match in the series. The openers made a positive start, but the momentum shifted when John Campbell suffered a hamstring injury and had to be stretchered off. From there, the hosts struggled to build partnerships, with Keacy Carty's gritty 48 standing out as the lone significant contribution. Shimron Hetmyer and Ackeem Auguste were the only other batters to reach double figures, highlighting the batting collapse. New Zealand were exceptional with the ball, led by debutant Jacob Duffy's early breakthrough before Jayden Lennox stole the show with a superb four-wicket haul. Mitchell Santner and Michael Bracewell chipped in with two wickets apiece to complete a dominant bowling performance.
Measured chase seals the deal - New Zealand were never under any real scoreboard pressure, with the openers opting for a patient start and safely negotiating the Powerplay without losing a wicket. While there were no major partnerships, every batter apart from Mark Chapman made a useful contribution of 20 or more to keep the chase on track. The visitors did wobble at 89/4, but Tom Latham's calm, unbeaten knock, coupled with Dean Foxcroft's composed support, produced an unbroken 52-run stand that guided New Zealand home comfortably with more than 10 overs to spare.
Kiwis edge closer to series glory - A clinical all-round performance from New Zealand sees them take a 2-1 lead in the ODI series with back-to-back convincing victories. West Indies, meanwhile, have plenty to reflect on and will need a significant improvement if they are to keep the series alive. With only two matches remaining, the hosts must quickly rediscover their best cricket to mount a comeback.

DRINKS! New Zealand need just 27 more runs to win with 6 wickets in hand and 102 balls remaining. The result is pretty much inevitable here unless West Indies can pull off something really special. It has not been an easy chase for the Kiwis, but small contributions from almost everyone have kept them in control of the game, while the Windies have shown good fight, it looks like it won't be enough. Also, Gudakesh Motie will bowl after the break.

DRINKS! West Indies are fighting well here despite not having that many runs on the board. Vitel Lawes has got both wickets so far, and he has looked threatening. If he can get a couple more, it will be game on. However, New Zealand know that they just need one big partnership and the match will be in their bag, but this surface is not easy for the new batters. Also, Daryl Mitchell comes out to the middle now.

Pitch Report - Stacy Ann Adams is pitchside. She says there was rain here a bit earlier. She adds that there are fewer cracks and it is greener. She reckons that this track was used for the first ODI and ends by saying that there will be more runs here compared to the last game.
West Indies (Playing XI) - John Campbell, Ackeem Auguste, Keacy Carty, Shai Hope (C)(WK), Shimron Hetmyer (In for Amir Jangoo), Sherfane Rutherford, Keemo Paul (In for Matthew Forde), Gudakesh Motie, Khary Pierre, Alzarri Joseph, Vitel Lawes.
New Zealand (Playing XI) - Henry Nicholls, Will Young, Mark Chapman, Daryl Mitchell, Tom Latham (WK), Dean Foxcroft, Michael Bracewell, Mitchell Santner (C), Nathan Smith (In for Matthew Fisher), Jacob Duffy, Jayden Lennox.
The skipper of West Indies - Shai Hope says that they will try to learn from their last game and bat well. He adds that they will try to score plenty of runs. Mentions that Shimron Hetmyer comes in for Amir Jangoo, and Keemo Paul comes in for Forde. He reckons that both are familiar with the conditions and they will be useful. Ends by saying that they are excited for this game.
The captain of New Zealand - Mitchell Santner says that they will bowl first. Adds that it is a used wicket and they will see how it behaves and chase later. He reckons that the wicket will play slightly better compared to the last game. Mentions that Nathan Smith comes in for Matthew Fisher and ends by saying that they will try to win this game.
TOSS - New Zealand have won the toss and will BOWL first.
The battle for the series lead - The Providence track is expected to offer plenty of assistance to the spinners once again, which means tactical smartness will decide the outcome. West Indies will want more impact from young left arm wristspinner Vitel Lawes, who went wicketless in the last game after a brilliant debut, while Khary Pierre looks to replicate his economical spell. New Zealand will rely on skipper Mitchell Santner to pull the strings perfectly in the field. Both sides have everything to play for as they look to break the deadlock and take a step closer to series glory. Do not go anywhere because the toss is coming up next.
Kiwis will look to maintain the squeeze - New Zealand will be thrilled with how their spinners dominated the previous game, especially with Jayden Lennox picking up a magnificent five wicket haul. However, the visitors will know they can still improve their top order security. Chasing a modest target last time out, they gave away three early wickets and briefly let the hosts back into the contest before Tom Latham and Michael Bracewell steadied the ship. Tonight, the Kiwi batters will look to adapt much faster to the slow nature of the pitch right from the powerplay, ensuring they do not expose their middle order to unnecessary pressure against the dangerous West Indian slow bowlers.
Caribbean batting reset - For the West Indies, the primary learning from the previous match is the need for middle order application against quality spin. After a solid opening stand from John Campbell and Ackeem Auguste, the lineup suffered a catastrophic collapse, losing ten wickets for just seventy five runs. Today, the West Indian batters must show better footwork and patience against the turning ball rather than playing risky shots. With all rounder Roston Chase likely to miss out again due to his finger injury, the onus falls squarely on the remaining top order to build substantial partnerships and give their bowlers a fighting total.
Welcome to beautiful Guyana - Hello and welcome to Providence Stadium in Guyana. We are in for the crucial third ODI between the West Indies and New Zealand. With the five match series perfectly balanced at 1-1, both teams are desperate to grab the lead today. The hosts took the opener with a thrilling chase, but the Blackcaps stormed back with a dominant bowling display in the second game to level the playing field. This game promises to be a fascinating battle of tactics and temperament on a surface that has already shown plenty of tricks.
... MATCH DAY ...
Gunning for the lead - The five-match ODI series between West Indies and New Zealand is perfectly poised heading into the third encounter at Providence Stadium, Guyana. After the hosts claimed the opening ODI with an assured all-round display, New Zealand responded emphatically in the second game to level the series 1-1. With momentum reset and three matches still to play, the third ODI shapes up as the defining contest of the tour. The story so far - West Indies entered the series with confidence after taking the opener through disciplined bowling and a composed chase, exposing New Zealand's fragile middle order. However, the visitors answered in style in the second ODI, producing one of their most complete performances in recent months. The standout performer of the 2nd ODI was left-arm spinner Jayden Lennox, whose sensational figures of 5 for 19 dismantled the West Indies batting lineup. After the hosts collapsed to just 138, New Zealand chased the target comfortably with five wickets in hand and more than 17 overs to spare. Tom Latham anchored the chase with his trademark calmness, ensuring there were no late surprises. Hosts looking for a response - The Windies were thoroughly outplayed in the second ODI. Their batting unit struggled against New Zealand's disciplined attack, particularly against spin, with wickets falling in clusters after a steady start. Captain Shai Hope will expect a much stronger showing from his batters. West Indies' bowling attack still possesses enough quality to trouble the visitors. Their pace battery can extract movement with the new ball, and if they manage early breakthroughs, the hosts remain capable of regaining control. What's the pitch looking like? Providence has traditionally offered assistance for both seamers early and spinners as the innings progresses. Batters who spend time at the crease generally find scoring easier after negotiating the initial movement. Form (Last 5 completed ODIs, most recent first) - WI - LWLLL | NZ - WLLLW. Predictions? Momentum currently sits with New Zealand after their dominant response in the second ODI, particularly following Jayden Lennox's match-winning spell. However, West Indies have already shown in the opening game that they possess the firepower to beat this New Zealand side, especially in familiar Caribbean conditions. Who are you backing for the win?
